The brief

Frontier Pets had an incredible subscription retention rate, with 92% of subscribers sticking around. However, nearly half of their one-time buyers didn’t return after their first purchase. To combat this, they wanted to increase subscription sign-ups and reduce churn. The challenge extended beyond customer behaviour—managing subscriptions was a logistical headache. Their existing system didn’t integrate well with their inventory, creating stock issues and limiting their ability to assist customers effectively. On top of that, customers found it frustrating to tweak their subscriptions, like adjusting delivery frequency or skipping orders. Frontier Pets needed a subscription model that worked seamlessly for both their team and their customers.

1. Recharge Integration for Seamless Subscription Management
We migrated their subscriptions to Recharge, resolving operational challenges. The platform offered an intuitive customer portal that allowed subscribers to:

  • Adjust delivery schedules.
  • Skip or reschedule orders.
  • Easily update subscription details.

2. Custom Features for Enhanced Flexibility
Using the Recharge API, we developed:

  • Cart Conversion Tool: Customers can switch between one-time purchases and subscriptions directly in their cart.
  • Subscription Price Visibility: “From” prices with subscription discounts displayed on the collection page. This helped raise awareness of the subscription option before customers even reached the product page.
