Northern Rivers Flood Recovery Volunteering
The Northern Rivers Region was devastatingly hit by flood damage throughout late February to early March 2022. The insurmountable amount of loss and damage socially, economically and ecologically was hard to comprehend and our hearts go out to all of those who were affected.
As a company headquartered in Byron Bay we couldn’t sit still and watch our community unravel around us, so we rallied our team once it was safe on Friday March 11 2022, to volunteer in the heavily flood affected areas. We worked in the nearby towns of Broadwater and Wardell.
We joined forces with the local Rural Fire Service in Broadwater and the Broadwater Community Centre to see where our work was needed most and how best we could help. It was incredible to see the community spirit and sheer amount of individuals volunteering together to step in before the Government took action.
Although there is still a long road ahead to recovery, the community spirit and generosity of businesses and individuals within the Northern Rivers community is what has been and what will be the driving force of inspiration and hope for the future.
